Headed for Tampines Mall yesterday. Second trip there since it’s opening. Mad rush though. Went thru two malls within an hour. Great place to shop. Shall head there again when I can get people to walk around with me. Bought a T from U2.

Professional Wrestling

The doctor was a huge joker. Mentioned that my back will get worse as I get older (surprisingly, I can live with that) but should get better after leaving NS when it’ll be less stressful. Shouldn’t have problems with day-to-day living unless I become a professional wrestler or stuntman. Haha. Looks damn friendly. But he’s a lil too “trigger happy”. Gave me three months worth of painkillers. Two tablets DAILY… *rolls eyes*

Been spending quite a bit recently. Think have to cut down a bit bit. Going for movie with bear on Saturday too. Have to hold out till then. Looking forward to it already!

Oh, Allan’s having his 21st on that day too. Dang. What a clash. Too bad man. Sis comes first. Blea! Haha. Maybe dropping by for a while at night though.

Ok relax, this isn’t directed at anyone. Unlike the two posts sometime back.

Read abt a theory quite some time back. Someone mentioned that anger and laughter can both comes from the fear of something. Sounds incredulous eh? Especially so for laughter.

They explained it using horror movies. How do people react during a horror show? Some jolt and jump in their seats. Others just scream their head off. Some cower behind the boyfriends or bags. Some hit the one next to them and others just grab whatever they can. And some? They laugh it off.

In the face of extreme fear and horror. People balance the extreme with the extreme. They laugh to balance the fear within themselves, countering one extreme emotion with another.

What about anger? Take a rape victim for example. Her fear will result into great anger. Why? Why her? Why are people doing this to her? And with that great anger, she might resort to taking her own life or that of the rapist. With the proverbial strength of ten men they say….

Hmm radical huh, seemed so at first. But kinda makes sense the more you think about it.

Perhaps that’s why I’m always angry, maybe I am afraid… but of what?

Hmmm… afraid and unsure I guess.

Good Man Downed

I’ve been downgraded. To a highly unglamorous C9L2. Shucks. On one hand I’m happy someone’s doing something to protect my back, on the other I’m afraid that it might keep me away from the new love of my life- basketball.

Ok. So it isn’t really basketball. Think a combination of basketball with a lil bit of contact rugby thrown in. and then picture it being shown on Comedy Central. Yups, you get the general idea. Think the workout is more in the luffs we share.

AND, I suck at it. Basically, I’m the guy whom they’ll go. “Mike, we’re losing. BADLY. Play “chou chou” (smelly in mandarin). NOW. Thanks”. That’s the call for me to pull off those not entirely legal tricks and stunts. Hey! This is the SAF; you can do anything so long you don’t get caught right? *Mad scientist laughter*

I Can’t Take This Anymore

Sheila’s friend, Char once wrote and I quote:

That was eons ago. But I dug it up and share (without her permission) with all of you out there. I’m sorry, but this is how I feel now.

Really. It’s like playing squash in the pitch darkness. So dark you can’t even see your own fingers extended in front of you. Then a blinding floodlight hits down on you. Illuminating and engulfing in you in a small circle of blinding piercing white light. You start picking up the balls one by one from the bucket near your feet and send em flying at the wall. Only...

Only… they never ever come back. Never. And yet you dare not give up, just standing there, straining eyes, hoping to see a glimpse of something returning. And before long, you start straining your ears too. Hoping to at least hear the balls making contact with the wall.

All these while you never quit sending the balls out. And yet… yet… it feels like you’re hitting them into the abyss. An abyss of unresponsiveness and coldness.

Coldness of the unfeeling heart.

It’s been a while since I last got a cd (I’m a music pirate sweetie...) but I went and bought myself one. Words Can’t Describe by Claressa Monteiro.

Great piece of work. I was pleasantly surprised. Wasn’t expecting a lot. But WOW! Blown away. Been passing it around. No one believes she’s a local. Haha.

Heh. Been looking through the stuff I got for my bday. Wow. Really happy. Guess by now you’ll have noticed on the right that the list’s pretty much struck off. Heh. Got lotsa stuff. Thank you all man.

Let’ see… what did I get. Oh the lads from camp got me a pair of Sennheiser PX 200. POWER! Put it on and you’ll be transported into a sanctuary of pure bliss. It delivers clean, clear, crisps every time. And the bass. Oh my goodness. You’ll have to try it on to believe it. Plus, it’s foldable, gets real compact! Think it cost em a bomb. 98 bucks man. Thanks again guys, I know we all don’t earn much! Really appreciate it. I would have kissed you all right there and then but it’ll just look FUCKING GAY inappropriate.

Ming, Ps, Sam, Christine and SL got me a Deuter back pack! It’s this cool grey looking pack, which I’m using now. Nice!! Oh, Christine’s bday falls on the 2nd. One day after mine. Got her a necklace/pendant set from Jo’s craft. Hopes she liked it.

Was extremely happy to see some of my NPCC pals. Chufang, Lingzhi, Huiqing and Alan came down! Cheehong had something on in camp so he didn’t join them. Heh those peeps got me two cds. “Highway to hell” by ACDC and a re-mastered cd by KISS.

Heh, Aaron, Liyi, Yifang, Fel, Joce, Yanmei and Sandra got me a huge card and a BRAUN BUFFEL wallet. *Jaw drops* Has always wanted one, but could never bear to part with the dough to get one. Those guys went ahead and got me one anyway! Wow, to think Bear actually “tricked” me into agreeing to go shop for wallets with her, so as to ensure that I don’t get myself one. Haha meticulous huh? *Grins*

The relatives and cousin came over. Got lotsa ang paos. Xinrui got me a book. “Complete Bartender Guide” Haha to bring me one step closer to my dream she says. Thanks! Really like it.

My pressie to myself? Got a new bottle of fragrance. Rykiel Homme by Sonia Rykiel.

But the bestest present? Haha. It’s a book. Changmei, Junhui and Michelle got me a book on pottery. OH MY GAWD!!!! That’s like the bestest biggest shock of my life. HOWEVER DID THEY KNOW? Apparently, I let slipped during one of the Kino trips with Chengmei. AND she remembered. *Touched* I swore a hollered on top of my voice at three in the morning when I saw the book. WOW! I still can believe it. *Beams*

Happy Happy Birthday To Mike!!!

Woah, the past weekend has proved to be quite a whirlwind of events. Celebrated my 21st birthday. Am still in awe of everything that happened and everyone who turned up. Held a bbq at East Coast Costa Sands Resort.. Got a great sea view unit, trust me, I had no time at all to appreciate the scenery. That weekend fell on my alert manning period. Meaning I was on standby and could be recalled any moment. BUT I wasn’t! Guess my luck held out after all. Hmmm seems that I’ve always been lucky nearing/ during my bday. Got back most of my important results nearing my bday. PSLE, “O” levels, “A” levels. Hmmm. So far I haven’t been disappointed. They were not that fantastic, nor were they dreadful. Hee. Anyway, I digressed.

Preparation for the weekend was C-R-A-Z-Y. Shopping, food preparation, sending out of invites, making multiple plans in case I got activated etc etc. Phew. Thank goodness for some lovely people who helped.

It was great seeing everybody again, people whom I’ve spent my childhood with, people who meant something to me. Quite a healthy turn out. Around thirty plus people came. From camp, the lads- Gabriel, Elvin, Francis, Png, Koh, Andy, Quek and Kk came. From A21, Ming, Andrea, Peishan, Shuhui, Sam, Christine, Pearly, Lixin, Liyi, Yanmei, Kings, Siewli, Felicia (with Richardo in tow), Joce, Sandra, Benedict and Yifang came. From RVHS? Chufang (never knew she was Estrella), Huiqing, Lingzhi, ChengMei and Junhui joined us. Oh Michelle from my Jjc OG came too! Guess who really made my day? SHEILA!!!! That woman came after all! (Was scaring me that she wouldn’t). So glad to see her. Meant a lot to me that she actually came. So nice of her. So I was nice too and saved a huge chunk of cake for her. Yes. The word here is chunk. It was from Sweet Secrets. Uber sweet and sticky. Absolutely sinful and heavenly! By the time Ming and Joce finished helping me cut it up, it was a total mess. Haha trust me, an extremely divine mess. Think I need to hit the gym soon. Guess who collected it for me? Sandra mei! Thanks sis! You’ve been a great help. I know three kg was a bit too much for you. Haha. Thanks again! Hope your arms aren’t sore anymore!

Fel brought her bf along. Richardo. Nice guy! Very charismatic, magnetic personality. *Gives fel two thumbs up* You go gal! Speaking of magnetic personality, think Charles and Gabriel’s quite attracted to Yifang. Heh heh! Elvin thinks Pearly’s the prettiest. HEY MAN! Can’t you see THE boyfriend? Haha! AND please lay off guys! Doesn’t mean that I HAVE TO BE attached just because I know so many girls. Quit teasing before you irritate the hell out of me, I’m sure you wanna keep your teeth don’t you?

Nobody stayed over which was fine with me. Understand that It’s real awkward and some have activities the next morning. Doesn’t matter really. By the time I was done clearing up, it was like three in the morning. Slept like a pig after unwrapping the pressies and washing up.

Really happy that so many came. Sounds cliché but really felt loved. Haha great seeing all of them again. It’s been so hard to have everyone gather under the same roof. Guess the weekend was a great opportunity for that to happen. Am very happy. Was totally bushed. But guess the energy from seeing all of them again sorta drove me on for the evening! Haha. Am especially glad that people who usually wouldn’t turn up for class gatherings turned up too. People like Andrea, Fel and Lim. So glad they came!

It’s been a week already. Am still buzzing from the high! Hee. After glow my dear… after glow…
