Clarke Quay.

Was a huge disappointment. It's deader than dead. Though there were many shops but they all sold the same crap. Think "Singapore is a Fine city" T-shirts, and merlion paraphernalia.... The toy models were a let down too. I think Chengmei was rather bored. I was! Haiz, Liang Court was no better.... Hang around long enuff and you might see tumbleweed roll across the mall. Goodness. The kino was a joke too. Poorly stocked, lousy service. The grouchy old aunties were less than helpful. *shakes head*

Walkabout

Headed to Ps and town after that. Went to Spotlight to check out some stuff. Isit me? or has it gotten smaller. It seems so.... lok kok now. Heh. Walked around a bit before having dinner at MacDonald House's Long John Silver. Boy, Chengmei can eat. Hahaha. The huge glass of ice tea din set her back at all. I couldn't finish mine!

Headed to Taka where we bumped into Chan Howe. Fifty bucks that he's thinking we're an item. Haiz. *shakes head* Went on to Kino where I bought a new book. "Me talk pretty one day" By David Sedaris. What got my attention was a comment on the back of the book, " A humorist par excellence, he can make Woody Allen appear ham-tongued, Oscar Wilde a drag..." Someone who can rival Wilde?!?!? I simply had to check him out. Been through half the book. He's funny alright. Poignant and cutting, but not as good as Wilde. Wilde is... in a class of his own. Anyway, he's gay. Found out towards the middle of the book. Quite distressed. Am a homophobic. Haha. But his stories are hilarious.

Saw another collection of Wilde's quotes. Think I'll get that when pay comes in. It's much more extensive/expensive. Hahaha. Here's where the twenty percent coupons comes in handy. I'm a cheapo, sue me.

Violated

Was doing guard duty yesterday and guess what? The dog tried to hump my leg.

Done laughing?

It was DISGUSTING!

The minute I got down from the rover, the mutt just came up to me. Stood on his rear legs and tried to... hump my leg. I was at a total loss. First instinct was to boot it across the face. But I couldn't do that to a dog. To a human maybe, but not to dogs. Had to yell at it and threaten to splash it with water before it went away. *shakes head* Now, THAT was unnerving.

Bet I looked real hilarious, trying to shake it off, hollering at the top of my voice the whole time. Hope it doesn't happen ever again.

Ice cream.

Did a survey related to ice cream. It's one of them personality test. Well, apparently *rolls eyes*, they can tell from how I eat my ice cream and from the flavours I like that ".. I like to live my life extravagantly". Heh, that's rather true.... Scary man.

Happy!

Heh, C's back to her cheerful self. Was afraid of talking to her for the past few days, she wasn't in the best of mood. Neither was I, so zipped up for the fear of tripping her off with the wrong stuff.

Volatile. Hahaha Can't believed I used that.

American Idol.

I've always given the first few episodes of every season's AI a miss because I cannot tolerate the horrible singing. Likewise to how I cannot stand stupidity around me, I have zero tolerance for bad singing. I cringe and wince and tear myself up inside whenever I hear bad singing. Sue me. But that's how it is.

But as the season goes on, I'll watch occasionally. And that's where I enjoy myself. Lovely voices, vocal power houses. And tonight, I congratulate Fantasia.

Triumph of Ducky over Tubby. *grins*

Fingers Crossed

Shugah's meeting up with the bf tml. Hope all goes well and that they make up. Hope she doesn't become her usual stubborn self again. It wouldn't do the relationship any good.

Clarke Quay

Heading there on Sat. Will update.

Back.

Just got back from a funeral wake. My uncle passed on. For the past two days (Sat & Sun), I was there.

And I'm depressed by everything. Nono, not sad or devastated, just depressed. Uncle's not a very close relative. He's those I only see twice a year max? One of which being Chinese New Year.

But still, it's sad. Life's fragile. It only hits hard enough when it's someone you know. Was kinda affected when I saw my aunt and his children so... Unaffected. Maybe they're not showing it. Maybe they're relieved in a way. (He died of cancer, maybe it was real bad while he was sick.) Maybe.... (and this came into my mind first) They didn't care anymore.

It sucks.

And for the two days I was there, I daren't go look at him. I was... scared in a way. To me, he's always the generous, happy go lucky, kids adoring, children endearing uncle who loves to have us over at his place. And I was chicken shit, at the notion of having to see him in his frail state.

Loss sucks.

Cheated.

I bought the wrong stuff. Bought the Original Mint Source's Peppermint Shampoo thinking that it'll be cooling and minty like Ng's Peppermint Shampoo..... NO...... It doesn't work that way. No menthol content at all. So I smell like a walking piece of candy cane now.

Well, it's ok. I can live with that. Thank goodness I love Candy Canes. *chortles* So now I'll have a lil bit of Xmas with me whenever I shower! Yay! *dances around*

Word.

Ok. Blogging without the help of Microsoft word sucks! No spell checks, no auto caps. (I'm using notepad now...) Never realise how dependant I've grown on Word. Hope I get it up soon.

Bursting At The Seams

I'm super super bloated. I swear I could burst if I take another bite. Had a belated mommies' day at granny's. Had a bbq. So much food. Really feel like a pig now. Had tiramisu too. Ordered it From Tiramisutra. It was absolutely divine. Heh. I feel like a glutton now. *rubs tummy*

It Died.

My Com crashed that day. There goes everything. I repeat. EVERYTHING. All the mp3! All seven gig of them. Gone! I swear I could have fainted right there and then. They're my babies!

Haiz. But I realised that it's set already. No point harping on it. Might not be a bad thing, now that i can download selectively. Heh. Life goes on.

Updates!

Linked Avis to my blog. Feel free to check out her blog. The links on the right... *points to it*

I WANT TO HAVE COFFEE SOON! It’s been ages man! Persephone…… I need caffeine! *whines whines whines*

I Give Up

As I told V this morning. I give up.

I’ll love to be able to play a mean wailing guitar… but I guess I’m just not musically inclined. I just cannot grasp the concept (like maths) after fiddling with it for so long.

And so! Hahaha. I’ll just stick to what I’m good at! Craft! Will sign up for pottery (Yay!) and carpentry lessons soon! Hahaha.

Nua-zified

Yea man, I’m feeling so nua and blea. So irritating, every time in camp when I take out my note pad to jot down points for this blog, I ended up spacing out and smudging the paper with my pen.

I have absolutely no mood to blog. Growls

I'm bored... Bet You Could Tell

Friday!

Mei's coming back today!

Yay!

KRRAANNGG!

Have I mentioned that I’ve fallen in love all over again with speed metal? Been listening to them again.

Bleargh!

Have so much on my mind now. Where shall I start?

Ok, Ming! Thanks for listening the other day. And Fel? Thanks for calming me down.

Isn’t it queer? The people who offer help and calming words are never the ones you’re close to previously. Hmmm.

Anyway, I promise I won’t do anything dumb ok? No worries! I’ll survive this.

Think I scared Ming a bit the other day. She asked “Why does it sound like there’s two person msging me?” Think she must have thought that I was going loony.

Then again… maybe I am losing it.

Bloggy

Have loads of changes I wanna make to my blog. But can’t seem to find the time and drive to. Hmm, I hope the mood comes soon. It should be good.

Missed!

Dang, Due to bad timing, I’ll have to give “Prelude To A Kiss” a miss. Darn! It looks really good. For once in many weeks, something good in theater and drama came up and guess what? I can’t go! WTF?!?!?

Ewww

Lessons learnt today:
1) Intimate terms of address can be rather annoying, condescending even. *Makes a mental note to cut down on “babes”, “dears”. And never use “sexy”*
2) You do not ask for a “puppy” look. It’s gross. Makes one cringe up inside like a prune. Urgh!

Check It Out!

Fel’s public blog is up! Linked her on the right. Do drop by ok?

Lord Of The Ring

Yup, went to the exhibition today after church. It was awesome. Thoroughly enjoyed myself. Hope Christine had a good time too.

Thank goodness I managed to catch “The Fellowship Of The Ring” and “The Twin Towers” before the exhibition. So I wasn’t that lost inside. There was quite a bit on the prologue of and history behind the movie/story. So “The Fellowship Of The Ring” helped.

Quite an experiencing seeing all the life size props and costumes being displayed. All the weapons and armour etc. Sorry. It’s a guy thing. We’re naturally attracted to shiny metallic stuff. Haha. To bad most of them were behind casing and Plexiglas and what’s not. *Rueful look* Would love to get my hands on the fighting knives of Legolas or any elfish weapon. I guess their oriental inspired curves made them more appealing. They look classier, deadlier. Haha Killing with class! *chortles* The weapons of other races just seem so boorish, so uninteresting.

Speaking of weapons, saw videos of how they aged/oxidized/rust the weapons to make them seem more realistic. Trust me, they’re doing an excellent job of it. There was this exhibit which had the armour of various races lined up. And we could get a really close up look at them. Goodness… they look really… realistic. Especially for the baddies’s. the rust, the dried up blood, the animal hair, it all adds to the realism o fit. Quite amazing, considering that they have to do the same for more than one copy. And that there are so many different suits of armour for each race. Respect…

Oh and the costumes! Hahaha, someone was rather attracted to Galadriel’s white flowy gown AND Legolas’ suede tunic. Hahaha, Christine was so cute as she sneaked a feel of his tunic. Haha, thank goodness no one saw. Quite thrilling. Hahaha. Personally, I think Arwen's suede riding robe and Legolas’ is the best. Looks real comfy, being made from suede and all. Can see the effort they put into the exhibits. Every detail was taken care off. Even the size of the mannequin used. Elfish mannequins are taller than human’s. It’s all these small details that go to show how professional they are. Seriously, I think they would have gotten away with it if they used human mannequins to display Elf’s clothes. *Gives thumbs up sign* But they didn’t and I have to give them credit for the effort.

There were a lot of videos on the different filming techniques. There were videos explaining how “massing” effect was achieved for battle scenes, how the props were created through miniatures etc etc. but the really interesting one is the “forced perspective” technique. It is the effect responsible for making hobbits look smaller than the rest of the cast. It can be achieved using 1) Really small doubles 2) Computer software. But the really interesting one mentioned in the videos is one that is low budget and relatively “low tech”. Haha, it simply involves using disproportionate props and different camera angles for filming. That seemed almost possible to try at home. Haha.

The exhibition was quite worth the money. Come to think of it, I really wouldn’t mind paying good money for it again. But only after catching “Return Of The King” and if I have as good company as today. *Winks*

Church

Today was…. Lonely. Haha. Sandra’s in Japan, cousin Dawn was sick. So sat through everything alone. Helped a lot that today’s topic was interesting. *makes mental note to hold my tongue in future*

Talked to Pastor Jervin for quite a bit after service. Discussed my plans for the future with him. Heh. Nice hearing stuff from his perspective. Not very encouraging but nice nonetheless. Fret not, rest assure I’ll think it out carefully.

Weak…

I skipped breakfast and lunch… Then I had a real “late” dinner… And I feel so weak and queasy already.

How does Fel manage an entire day without any food?

Amazing if you ask me… Or rather, scary…

Konnichiwa!

Haha, Sandra should be on her plane to The Land Of The Rising Sun by now. Went out with her yesterday (Friday). Checked out Curry Favor at Stamford House.

Their Japanese curry was superb. Mei and I had chicken katsu curry. Came with miso soup, soda and ice cream. Heheh. Not too bad. Quite good actually. Generous helping, quite worth the moolah if you ask me. Helps a lot that the stuff was real friendly and not at all intimidating. Hahha.

The curry was… made without any coconut. The aroma and taste comes from the different kind of spice they use. Not spicy (at least to me, mei found it a bit spicy) with a tinge of sweetness. Was rather thick and creamy. The curry came separately in an Aladdin’s lamp-like container. Looks really cute. Then you pour the amount you want over the chicken cutlet. So it doesn’t turn too soggy too quick. Smart eh?

The place looks cool too. Baoz will love it. Red walls. And the red they used. It’s layered and very raw. Very nice. And there’s this part of the wall that is rougher than other. Deliberately made so I think. It’s like… it had raw plaster dripping down. They colored it white. Complements the entire maroon wall excellently. Bring quite some life to the huge tall wall. The place has a high ceiling. So the white patch breaks the monotony of the huge wall.

The restaurant has a sister restaurant right next door, can’t remember it’s name though. Moonlight Café I think. Sells American fare. Rotisserie chicken, mud pie, etc etc. you can play board games there too. Plus there are also reading materials for your browsing. Really cozy place. One huge plus point! The café plays jazz and blues. Quite rare to find a coffee place that plays such lovely music nowadays. (To think I was complaining to Sheila abt that just a few days ago….) but they dun have nice huge sofa and cushions for one to loll around in. Instead; they have weird HARD looking, bright yellow chairs. Hmmm, shall update you guys once I’ve tried out their coffee.

The place is definitely worth a revisit.
